Mabel Bianco en la sesión del ECOSOC sobre la Agenda2030

Mabel Bianco habló en nombre del grupo mayor de mujeres en la sesión del ECOSOC sobre la Agenda2030.

Este fue su mensaje:

«Soy Mabel Bianco de la Fundación para estudio e investigación de la mujer y hablo en nombre del Grupo Mayor de Mujeres. El grupo mayor de mujeres expresamos nuestra preocupación por el lento desarrollo del ODS 17, que es claramente para asegurar el desarrollo de toda la agenda 2030. Hay distintos factores pero nos interesa resaltar el esfuerzo por deteriorar el multilateralismo que algunos estados están realizando. En este sentido creemos que tenemos que defender a las naciones unidas porque es la institución clave para asegurar una democracia global en el marco del multilateralismo. En ese sentido exhortamos a los estados a que cumplan sus compromisos económicos en tiempo, en segundo lugar que revisan y cumplan los compromisos que asumieron en Sevilla, que significarían un avance importante, aunque no tanto como hubiéramos querido y por lo que luchamos, pero es un avance. Por último pedirles que dejen de pedir que se recorten programas y su supriman/fusionen instituciones básicas para asegurar el bienestar de la población. Y se concentren en pedir cambios y fusiones que eliminen áreas burocráticas y administrativas. Todos queremos unas naciones unidas más eficientes. Las ONGs de mujeres seguiremos trabajando con gobierno y otros grupos en defensa del multilateralismo para que no dejar a nadie atrás sea una realidad para todos».

Mabel Bianco spoke on behalf of the Women’s Major Group during the ECOSOC session on the 2030 Agenda.

This was her message:

«I am Mabel Bianco from the Foundation for Studies and Research on Women (FEIM), speaking on behalf of the Women’s Major Group.

The Women’s Major Group expresses its deep concern about the slow progress on SDG 17, which is essential to ensuring the implementation of the entire 2030 Agenda. There are several factors behind this situation, but we want to highlight the ongoing efforts by some Member States to undermine multilateralism.

We believe it is essential to defend the United Nations, as it is the key institution for safeguarding global democracy within a multilateral framework.

In this regard, we urge Member States, first, to fulfill their financial commitments on time. Second, we call on them to review and implement the commitments they adopted in Seville, which represent an important step forward—although not as ambitious as we had hoped and advocated for, they are still meaningful progress.

Finally, we ask Member States to stop calling for cuts to programs and the elimination or merger of essential institutions that are fundamental to ensuring people’s well-being. Instead, efforts should focus on reforms and institutional mergers that streamline bureaucratic and administrative structures.

We all want a more effective and efficient United Nations. Women’s NGOs will continue working alongside governments and other stakeholders to defend multilateralism and to ensure that leaving no one behind becomes a reality for everyone.»
